The Other Boleyn Girl
Philippa Gregory wrote a great novel called "The Other Boleyn Girl", which is about Anne Boleyn's sister Mary. Apparently, the prettier Mary had been the mistress of Henry VIII before he became involved with Anne. The smarter Anne though didn't want to become a mistress. She wanted to become queen.
My favorite Philippa Gregory novels are A Respectable Trade (about the 18th century slavery) and The Virgin Earth (about early colonial Virginia). I met Philippa Gregory once and had her sign my copies of The Other Boleyn Girl and The Constant Princess, when the new Natalie Portman movie first came out the latter book was first published. Do you have a favorite novel by Gregory?
